Well, I'd been aware of that car since last August or so when I saw it on Ebay and it didn't reach reserve, so I called. Found some of it's history on this site and I'd also been talking to Tim Willard at Griot's and had been offered to buy it but I'm a one car at a time guy. I already had a '71 442 cvt. that I had to sell if I were to buy it, so, obviously, I didn't, but I've been keeping track of it, sort of. I'm totally with you on the 289s. Originally I wanted a 427 street with under car exhaust, no scoop, roll bar or stripes, etc. Then I became a 289 fan, so I'm still looking for the right car, etc. I'd hoped to find one in time for this driving season because I didn't want to wait an entire 12 months for a 289 from ERA. So we'll see. Enjoy!

Hi-yes you are correct. How did you know? I love it thus far. Already logged over 400 miles. I chose this particular car because a local collector had it for a couple of years and I saw it often. He purchased an original 427 CSX ???? and I inquired to the whereabouts of his 289 FIA. Was informed he was going to sell it and then our discussions began even though I had never driven a Cobra. Next thing you know I purchased the car!
The price was fair and I felt that the 289 FIA cars were more rare/less common than the 427s-just my opinion though. I spoke with the builder also and was able to see literally all the paperwork since new including all receipts since the build began.
For me though it was really the local owner and the quality of vehicles he has in his collection, availability locally, and I like the history of the 289 FIA vehicles. It was also one of those " being in the right place at the right time".

Sounds like your new FIA would be CCX-22505, right? How do you like it by now? May I ask what caused you to pick Contemporary over say, ERA or Superformance....quality? ...price?.....availability?.....already built? Enjoy!
