I had similar experiences for years before i was convinced it was the seal. I'm guessing that the crankcase pressure shoots it out of the seal on the back of the balancer and the balancer slings it...

I have one. It works fine. I tuned the accelerator pump circuit with a wide band gauge. I was able to put a smaller squirter nozzle in with no ill effects.
