MArk - He stayed with EFI just switched to HOlley EFI. But generally speaking you should not have trouble with your electronic iginition. I recently talked with a guy who took out the IR from roush and went to Carb. Note that you likely have a electric vacuum system as the IR cannot create enough vacumm for the brakes. That can still be used if you go carb but not needed. JEFf
Thank you for your reply. I have another question regarding your friends 427IR. Did he have any major issues going from a electronic ignition to a carb system. I am considering my options to remove Roush from the mix.
My name is Mark Kady and I just found your post from a couple years ago regarding the MotoTron ECU and your Roush 427 IR. I am having a issue with that same set up and Roush has been very difficult in helping find the problem (Have contacted Mark Yagelo numerous times). I had intermittent spark and replaced the coil and the ECU itself and neither helped. My mechanic the removed the msd distributor and sent it to them to go through it. Received it back and now there is no spark at all. We are thinking it is the distributor. But now there are questions regarding the wiring harness that we can't get answers for. The harness to the engine is a 3 pin which matches the bottom side of the new distributor but there are only 2 wires coming it of the top of distributor (black/orange and black/purple) but the plug going to the car side has 3 pins (black, red and clear). Any info or contacts would be greatly appreciated.
