Stroker questions
What, in general, are the advantages and disadvantages of increasing the stroke of an engine? For instance, you can stroke a 351W to 427 to greater. How would this compare to a big block 427,...

Regarding the 600hp motor: How wild is the cam? What is your idle like? How about low rpm torque? How does it sound compared to a 427 SO? I think this would be a great motor for the price.
Thanks

I think "octane boost" is 108 octane, a few dollars for a little bottle. It's much cheaper to mix 100 octane from Union 76. They have scattered stations with 100 octane pumps. You can call...

Maybe 91 is just an Los Angeles thing. What brands in San Diego have 93? None available here except for "76" 100 octane race gas at 1 or 2 stations ($4.25).

California is 91 octane max throughout, as far as I know. And they charge the same price as if it's 93! Yes, the 460 is supposed to be 10.5:1 while the 514 is 9.8:1 according to spec. Is it insane to...

Thanks all. If the price of pump gas keeps going up, race gas may not seem so bad ;). Any comments regarding the best street engine of the crate motors 514, 460 or 392?

California 91 octane and comp. ratio
I'm considering a Ford crate engine such as the 460/535hp. This one has a 10.5:1 comp. ratio. Will this run on 91 octane? If it knocks, will retarding the timing be enough to be safe or should I look...

FE engine weight?
I've seen some posts on engine weights, but I'm still confused. The ranges given are broad. The Ford motorsport crate engine shipping weights are listed as 545 lbs. for the 351 and 392 and 670 lbs....

460 installation questions
I'm new to the forum, beginning research on a Cobra build. I'd like to go with a big block, daily driver, occasional track/drag use. I'm thinking about a 460, maybe stroked a bit. My idea was to use...
