I think Carl is on the right track. I mention to check the geometry, from the lifter, push rod, rocker, valve stem and spring. I haven't encountered it very often but you could have SPRING BIND....

Pin Motor Mounts

This is very simple-----Provided your using BBF 385 series. This will also work on other mounts. On ford 429 460 Drill 2 holes through each mount either 5/16 or 3/8ths depending on bolt size you use....
