I know at least one Superformance guy had big problems with the install quality. Then when they tried to remove the screw up it took patches of paint.

My guess is that you had air trapped in the cooling system resulting in puking the coolant out when the engine stopped circulating it.
Try leaving the radiator cap off until the thermostat opens...
