I have an original frame and tried a the Ford 1960 pickup slave shown. Tried Raybestos and Napa as well as a CNC which mounts sideways. This worked best for me.

13.8v is fine for a gell cell. I would have the charge system checked. I fried a gell with 14.4v constant output but 13.8v is within the limits.
