Thats normal. The paint used is very sensitive to brake fluid. There is a local powder coater I use that has a black powder coat that isn't affected by brake fluid. I've had them coat several cars...

It won't stay tight all the time with no spring, there will be a bit of slop in it. I've never installed a spring on any cars I built. I figure the clutch will self adjust with no spring.

That's not true. Shelby bought the body/chassis with all the closeout panels and footboxes. The rest is installed at the Shelby shops. I was there when Shelby first started buying from Kirkham
