1965 FACTORY FIVE 427 SC REPLICA

STARTING POINT: Factory Five Racing Mark III Roadster kit.
Vehicle weight – 2,285 pounds (400 lbs less than Mazda Miata)
Horsepower - 325 at 5,800 rpm.
CONSTRUCTION: Period-correct Tubular Steel Space Frame chassis with 4” X 0.120” seamless main tubes, fifty-three aluminum panels installed with 2000 rivets and adhesive bonding. Hand-built 5/16” thick fiberglass cloth and resin body. Frame/body weight – 500 pounds.
ENGINE: ’91 Ford 302 block, Edelbrock GT-40 aluminum heads, Levy racing custom grind roller camshaft, roller rockers, Holley 670cfm Street Avenger carburetor, Edelbrock Air Gap RPM manifold, Mallory distributor, Taylor wires, Hooker FFR ceramic tubular 4-into-4 full headers with 3” side pipes. Owner fabricated mechanical throttle linkage. Electric fuel pump.
RUNNING GEAR: Ford 8.8 inch posi-traction rear end with 2.73 final drive, T-5 manual transmission and custom 12” long drive shaft.
FRONT SUSPENSION: Koni adjustable coil-over shocks, FFR tubular lower control arms, FFR tubular adjustable upper control arms, SN95 Mustang GT spindles.
REAR SUSPENSION: Factory Five Racing 3-link with adjustable pinion angle bracket and panhard bar. Koni adjustable coil-overs, tubular lower control arms.
BRAKES: Manual 4-wheel 11” disc. 95 Mustang GT front, 99 Mustang Cobra rear.
STEERING: Unisteer manual rack & pinion.
PAINT: House of Kolor Designer Shimrin Pearl single stage urethane. Chrysler code PV6 Sunburst Orange Pearl over Silver period-correct stripes.
PERFORMANCE: These figures are from Factory Five:
0-60 in 3.6 seconds. 0-100 in 8.9 seconds. ¼ mile in 12.27 at 121 mph.
FUEL: 15-gallon tank, premium 91 octane. MPG: who cares!
