Description: I have tried over and over to upload photos, but it will not let me. Please see my build thread in the Kirkham section for photos. I will continue to attempt to upload photos. I have even compressed them and it still refuses to accept them.
Thanks!

This ad is for one of the two cars that were built for the 2008 movie Iron Man, starring Robert Downey Jr. It is an all aluminum bodied Kirkham Motorsports KMS SC 427 model. Cinema Vehicles contacted Kirkham Motorsports and had them build two rolling cars for the movie. One car was crushed during filming, but the other was spared since the filming went correctly on the first take.
Both cars were put up for Auction at Mecum in May 2010, which is where i purchased the uncrushed Kirkham. When i purchased the car, it was not equipped with any drivetrain components and the suspension components were all reject or defect products that were simply installed on the car to make it a roller. Obviously the car was intended to be crushed, so cinema vehicles did not want to pay extra for brand new billet aluminum suspension and therefore, the Kirkhams used broken or defective parts to make the car into a roller. In addition, the car had no electrical wiring and the gauges, passenger seat, lemans cap, carpet, radiator, sidepipes, oil cooler, headlamps, taillamps, parking lamps, and dash vinyl were either broken or in bad shape and needed to be replaced.
A few months after purchasing the car, i decided to start transforming the roller into a functional car, so I contacted David Kirkham and purchased the necessary components. The items I purchased from Kirkham Motorsports to make the car into a functional car are as follows:

NOTES:

- The car is registered as a 1965 Kirkham Cobra. Alabama does not title cars older than 1981 and therefore the car will be sold on a BIll of Sale. I will make sure that you have all necessary paperwork to Title the car in your State.

-I have put 300 miles on the car to break in the components and to make sure that all leaks and other small bugs were worked out of the system.

-I have included two photos of the car with its crushed counterpart at the Mecum auction in May of 2010. This is when the car was just a roller and did not have any functional suspension, brakes, or drivetrain.

PAINT

-The paint is in great condition, but there are a few chips from when the car was abused by spectators at the Mecum auction. At the time, the car did not have any weatherstripping, a hood prop, or trunk prop. People were raising the hood to see if the car had an engine, which of course it did not, and then letting the hood go as if it had dampners installed, which caused a few chips on the edges of the hood. In addition, since the doors did not have weatherstripping, the edges of the door were hitting the edge of the door opening, which caused a few small chips. The paint is also chipped on the lower nose section on one of the white stripes. I have touched these areas up, but i just wanted to mention them.

-The sidepipes that were installed on the car were non functional. I purchased Kirkham stainless steel header tubes and muffler pipes and i could not bring myself to paint the pretty stainless white, so i polished them instead. The holes that were cut for the fake sidepipes were too small and i had to enlarge them to fit the new exhaust. After enlarging the cut outs, this area had to be protected because there was no way to prevent the paint from chips and flaking since the edge of the paint was exposed. So, i fabricated custom brushed aluminum heat shields to protect the paint around the sidepipe cut outs in the body. They are riveted in place with 4 pop rivets and can easily be removed if the pipes or engine ever need to be serviced.

This is an incredible car and a pure thrill to drive. I took extreme care and went through the car in meticulous detail to make sure it would turn out to be something very special. This is about as close to a real Shelby as you could ever hope to own without actually shelling out a million dollars and the movie history behind the car should help it appreciate in value over time.
A signed letter from David Kirkham, the owner of Kirkham Motorsports, authenticating the history of this Iron Man Kirkham comes with the car as well as the paperwork from the Mecum auction and a Signed and framed poster from Cinema Vehicles.

The car puts out around 600hp and i would highly recommend that the buyer take a driving course in the car before even thinking about putting his/her foot into the pedal. I built this car to have as much power as possible and it can and will get away from the driver very quickly. It is a blast and a thrill to drive, but any car that is this light, with this much power, can get an inexperienced driver into trouble.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss the car in further detail, please feel free to contact me. I have a complete online album of the build on photobucket and i will be more than happy to share that link with potential buyers.
