Details:
My 1968 Camaro was partially restored when I bought it. The body & frame were already complete and I could find no evidence of any rust (which is why I bought it in the first place). Even the known trouble spots (lower quarters and rear window area) are great.

Here are some details.

Drivetrain:
The engine is a 400cu.in SBC block (rebuilt .04 over, so 408 cu.in). Transmission is a rebuilt Muncie 4 speed with a Hurst Shifter. The engine rebuild was done by an engine builder in South Florida known for dragster engines & frames (John's Cages). The engine has ported iron heads with larger stainless valves and roller rockers. The Rear-Axle was rebuilt and new gears were installed (so you can drive on the highway without going deaf). The engine is kept cool by a Flex-a-Lite Aluminum radiator and electric fan.

After the work was done, I had the dyno'd and puts out just over 375hp/400torque at the rear wheels. All drivetrain components (engine, transmission, rear-axle) have just over 5,000 miles on them.

Interior:
I completed the restoration by finishing the interior. Originally a deluxe interior car, I installed new black & white hounds-tooth seats and put the original deluxe badges on the seats. New deluxe gauges with tic-toc-tac, sound system (complete with iPod connecting cable in the center console compartment), and 3 point seat belts were installed.

A Vintage Air system keeps you nice & cool in the summer months.

Suspension:
I wanted this car handle better on the street, but also be a blast at track events (road courses, not drag racing). On the front, Savitske Adjustable Upper Control Arms and a larger sway bar were installed. On the back-end, an adjustable sway bar was installed and the shocks have been relocated. QA1 shocks are on the rear and Competition Engineering adjustable shocks are mounted on the front. The combination of these parts keeps the car planted solidly to the ground when taking turns (even large sweeping turns at high speeds) .

Wheels/Tires/Brakes
15" Team III Mini-Lite wheels and Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T Radial tires give this car a great 'trans-am racing' style look. Fronts are 245s and the rears are 295s (the car was mini-tubbed, so the 295's fit). The car has power brakes - discs up front and drums in the rear.

Steering:
The original steering boxes are known to be a bit 'loose & floaty', so I installed a new '87 IROC-Z steering unit. This is a direct fit replacement (with some special fittings for the power steering lines) and made a huge difference in handling.

Contact Info:

I'm located just north of Greensboro, NC and will be happy to show the car to an interested buyer.
