wow sounds like the ebrake, next time roll down the hill and pull on your emergency brake cable and see if it goes away.

Half shaft would start clicking if it is worn out, might squeal if out of lubricant, but since it does not consume lubricant where did it go. my next guess was a non lubricated u-joint on the drive shaft.

To bad you dont live in houston i have a 4 post lift. If you jack the rear end up with the car in neautral front wheel blocked and turn the rear wheels by hand do you hear it? If so it should be easy enough to find.

Stupid question but you are sure your brake shoes are not worn out? Is one of the retaining/anti rattle springs broke or installed incorrectly?
