Default Kirkham Car for Primary Children's Hospital

Fellow Car Nuts:

A few weeks ago a friend of mine came by and was looking at the pictures and magazine articles we have on the walls here at our shop. He noticed the cars we have donated over the years to various charitable organizations. He asked if we had ever thought about donating a car to Primary Children's Hospital. Every year Primary Children's Hospital does a fundraiser with the Festival of the Trees and KSL is a major sponsor of the Festival. He just retired as the general manager of KSL, the main Utah news organization, and so he has been deeply involved for years with the organization for years. www.festivaloftreesutah.org

He then described to me the incredible things they do there at the hospital. They do hundreds of thousands of visits and procedures every year--many of them for children from all over who can't pay. For the fundraiser, local charitable organizations, businesses, and local families buy trees and decorate them, then auction the trees off for the hospital. Some of you here will remember the first car we donated was to another hospital, the hospital at Ground Zero after the 9/11 attacks in New York.

Back in March Glenn Beck asked people to remember how they felt after 9/11 and to use the 912 "principles and values to solve some of the problems of the day?"

A couple of months ago, my 13 year old son asked me why people were in wheel chairs. I talked to him about spinal injury, from accident, birth, or illness, that can cause paraylsis. He asked if they could be cured. I told him, "Not yet, but they are working on it with stem cell research, gene therapy, and many other techniques." He then told me he wanted to find a cure so those people could walk again.

I then saw the thread here on CC on "Paying it Forward" www.clubcobra.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100608 and it got me thinking it was time to donate another car. The Festival of the Trees seems like a good place to donate.

My brother and I are thinking there are a lot of kids at Primary Children's Hospital here in Salt Lake City that need help. Even in a bum economy, kids still need chemo, x-rays, and wheel-chairs. My brother and I decided Santa could probably use 600 horses to pull his sleigh and give his reindeer a breather. I hope some of those children could put them to good use.

Anyone who would like to donate to the build would be greatly appreciated!

UPDATE:

I've set up a page with a button where you can make donations to the Primary Children's Hospital car build. Thank you all very much for asking for this.

http://www.kirkhammotorsports.com/charity/

* Enter your donation amount and hit the update button FIRST. All other information on the page will be wiped when updating the donation amount.
* Any donation receipts PCH gives us will be mailed to the address given on the first page.
* We can't promise tax exempt status for any of these donations, PCH folks say probably, but YMMV, check with accountant, who knows?
* If you're donating by PayPal, please use this button. All donations are specially flagged as "donation" and it will make accounting much easier for us.
* We will, of course, still accept parts, cash, checks sent however you like.

Thank you again.

For those unfamiliar with the Primary Children's Hospital, here's Wikipedia's description.
