Default stallion carb showed up today

was listed in the for sale section by roger davidson due to personal reasons and i was lucky to get ahold of him and purchase it.

showed up nicely wrapped and in like new condition. all butterflies are drilled, base plate looks to be precision machined on the throttle bores, the downleg boosters are epoxied in, there is an additional fuel metering hole next to the idle fuel metering hole, the transition slots are not exposed, everything looks to be first class.

as stan justus added on rogers post

"I built this 750HP Holley carb for RRD a couple of years ago. It features venturis of 1.425" minimum diameter with a throttle bore diameter of 1.687". The downleg-style boosters are .617" O.D. with an internal annulus diameter of of .440". The fuel metering circuitry is something of a blend, with the main circuit being calibrated along the lines of our full-on Trans-Am style road race stuff with the curb idle and transition circuitry being more oriented toward part-throttle drivability and street manners. The carb also features several modifications which reduce the negative effects of centrifugal/lateral force on the supplied air/fuel ratio during aggressive cornering and braking.

Currently, it is best suited for the purpose for which it was originally built; that of allowing a 380-430 cu.in. SBF w/ cylinder heads and camshaft designed to "do business" from 3500 - 6500 RPM to also operate on the road with reasonable efficiency and manners at 2500 RPM in a light, manual trans car."

i didn't have anything of that size to put it on so i put it on the 351/385hp crate motor setup just to see what it would do. the engine started up and idled great and i don't know how to explain it but it ran like a sewing machine on 220v. took it up the road and around the round a bout and couldn't make the engine miss and braking didn't faze it. accelerated just fine with a little bog if i got into it too quick and was surprised to break the wheels loose once. was real smooth on throttle transition also, no hesitation.

i've used a few different carbs and none have ran as good as this one, this is a keeper, and it's nice to get a piece of equipment that does what it is supposed to.

good job stan.
