We have not seen this pattern yet this year with car jackings however, for those of us involved in parking lot security, it would be wise to be vigilant on the following:
The parking lot carjacker will place a colored placard on the rear window of a parked vehicle. When the driver begins to backup the vehicle from the parking space.
The driver will stop the vehicle and exit their vehicle, to remove the placard from the rear window. At this time with the engine running and a pocketbook or purse on the
front seat the suspect, will jump into the vehicle and steal the vehicle. This results in the theft of the vehicle and the contents inside. This is just an FYI for security
who may observe placards on vehicles parked within your parking areas. Have a safe holiday season.
