Thank you, fonti...you just confirmed my point. I do not want folks coming back to this thread and basing their decision on whether to buy/import a Cobra into any country in Europe based on needing to add airbags or bumpers per CSX700?'s post, and others that follow in that vein.

It would be assinine to think that several countries (even in the Union of European Socialist Republics) would all have identical rules. Friends in England, for example, have to pass safety regulation reviews on a regular basis.

It sounds like Switzerland is not unlike the United States, and that you appear to be working under scenarios not much different than California in the 80s/90s.

Comparing legal requirements to "how folks get things done" is apples and oranges, and I'm glad you came back to weigh in just enough to explain the situation.

I spent two years fighting with the Feds because one of my clients imported some G-Wagens (grey market) for use on his extensive farming operations...there's many ways to skin a cat, so good luck.
