Lots of guys have machine guns, they're just big boy toys, like a Cobra. For home protection we have shotguns, pistols and rifles. I have a 12" 20 ga 5 shot pump. It, like the machine guns are registered with the ATF under the 1934 Nation Firearms Act.
Most of our group like airplanes, guns and cars. I guess it's a man thing.

I was kidding about the home defense part, and I can absolutely relate to the toy aspect. I learned to respect and enjoy guns (along with other tools and machinery) early in life and though I get to shoot a variety of weapons (including my own) with some LEO buddies, I envy you the experience of cutting loose on the range with a real machine gun. That's got to be a real blast!
