The right wing Republicans were wrong in the '30's and they are wrong today. What we are seeing is literally the end of the Republican party as we have known it. Their refusal to address the needs of the people in favor of the needs of the Capitalist has led to this inevitable conclusion.
It is doubtful the party will ever gain control again, it will, it is all ready, splintered with no leadership. The 100% AGAINST Health Care vote is but one example the people will remember. It's mistakes have been to many, for to long, it cannot recover.
Obama's power and voter base will continue to grow. There will be some minor setbacks along the way. Just enough to give the Republicans "hope", but it will be a fleeting hope. Like the up coming mid term elections. Some Dems will be replaced by Repubs, some Repubs by Dems. The balance of complete power may shift slightly away from the Dem's, but it will be a false illusion of "hope" for the Repub's. They will never achieve a strong power base again. As a party, they are finished.
They will "wait", it's what they do, to "see what happens" and this will be there undoing. The Democratic campaign is going on right NOW. The Repub's, leaderless, confused, angry are lashing out with harsh criticism, dark words. Doing everything in their power to stop the changes, they are to late. They will continue to search for leadership but no man (or woman) is going to come riding in on a white horse to save them (in their dreams maybe).
There is a little hope in one direction. That main stream America will leave the Democrats in droves and join the party. That alone will be sufficient to overcome the latino vote, growing daily, the young people vote, still filled with hope and those who will have benefited from Health Reform. The combined number of voters favorable to the Democrats will be difficult or impossible to overcome.
Time to build that bunker in the woods you been thinking about, the times they are a changing...
This Op Ed piece opinion is not based on Liberal, Conservative or Moderate views. It is simply how I see the political future shapeing up. I don't necessarily like what I see, but only a fool lies to himself.
