The only advantage that I can think of (and it might not even be an advantage at that) is that I had the pedal mounts fabbed to spread them apart a bit more, because of my size 12EEE feet. You can see the bars that the pedals sit on are angled over a bit more and you can see the room I have. It does well for me if I wear the right shoes (which I always do); nothing special, just Nike "Free" shoes. This pic also shows the room in the footbox.
