I would think that they would have to do a tail pipe test at a minimum, so they have data in the system to apply the SB100 sequence number against (i.e. you fail, enter SB100, spit out "golden ticket").

I had mine done last summer at Evergreen. They didn't bother hooking it up to anything. They did a visual, made sure I had a pcv, didn't care about my open breather on the other side. They took some pictures, clicked n/a in about every field of my "test" and printed out a sticker.
