I believe all 427s came with a fuel filter cannister from Ford. The Galaxies and Fairlanes had a hard line to the nearest corner of the carb and no log for the 1-4v setups. Maybe that's what your guy was referring to.

Cobras with turkey pans use a log with a hard line from the filter cannister. I bought mine from Motorsports International in California. I'm not sure they're still around. It's gold cad plated, but I'm not sure what is correct, gold or silver.

The log I used on my setup is different than the 2-4v or 3-2v setups in that it sits further back on the intake than either of the others. This requires a different hard line. I could not find one, and had to fabricate one. It's basically the same line as used with the multi-carb setups except it has an extra 45 degree turn at the log end and it is a couple of inches longer to reach the log that's further back. I used a repro multi-carb line as a template and bent up a duplicate that has the extra length and the extra bend. Pretty simple to fabricate.

I have not experienced any leaks yet. I have a repro chrome filter housing, and some of these were indeed leakers. They're getting pretty hard to find in NOS or used, and go for big bucks. If you can find one, buy it.

I can snap a pic of my setup tonight and post if needed. I think it looks stock. That was my goal. Whether it is or not is open to debate.
