I don't know about the inner workings of GM and everything, so I don't have any further comments on that. I probably spoke out of turn on the comment anyway.

By the time you added all the safety requirements (side air bags, front airbags, etc...) and all of the extra equipment that goes with them, the car would grow a little to fit everything and the weight would go up much more. Making the gas mileage drop significantly.
