DanEC , don`t kn ow how accurate you are trying to be , but Ford originally bolted the coil to the front of the driver side head as the others have said , but used the bracket that held the fuel filter/can as a stop/locator . The original bracket had a little tab on it that acted as a stop against the fuel filter bracket . My Galaxie is that way and every 427 I`ve seen is also set up like that . I know Donahue Collector Cars in FL has those brackets . The thing you would need to check is coil diameter vs the I.D. of the bracket as some of the aftermarket coils are a different diameter than the original . Most are bigger and will work ... the smaller ones cause a problem .
