More important than the diameter of the bottom pulley is the ratio of the bottom pulley to the water pump pulley. We have found that a 1 to 1 ratio works very well on most engines.

Having the water pump pulley over driven will only cause problems at high engine speeds. It will help at lower engine speeds.
