If you are planning a weekend at SAAC-35 in August and you haven't booked your hotel, here is some info.
When SAAC plans the convention, they select two hotels and get them to reserve as big a block of rooms as they can get, with a group discount.
For SAAC-35, this was the Embassy Suites and the Four Points Sheraton, both in San Rafael CA. They are basically at the same exit off 101, each on opposite sides of the freeway.
Within a week after the convention details were announced, the Embassy block was sold out. The Sheraton is now down to double digits of available rooms.
Be aware that these are the only two hotels where SAAC has hired 24 hour security for the parking areas.
If you are planning a Friday and/or Saturday night stay, I suggest you get your reservations in at the Sheraton while rooms are still available.
