I think the presumption was that the winter additives might cause the fuel itself to be more sensitive to heat under the hood. If I had been in a similar traffic situation to what I experienced that day during recent months (on much cooler days), I would have probably had a hard time keeping her running. I was amazed that I experienced no issues whatsoever. I changed my fuel filter as well with no effect.

After a good hard ride.....oil pressure is over 50, temp is below 190, she idles and no new dents. LIFE IS GOOD!
