Lime Rock Press Release @ 6:00 PM :
" Yeah, so it drizzled for a lot of the day – but that made practice and qualifying really fun to watch. Every series or class with the exception of the Cooper Tire Prototype Lites championship (its qually is tomorrow a.m.) qualified in the afternoon, and for the big show – the ALMS Northeast Grand Prix – David Brabham in the Tequila Patron HPD ARX01c and Klaus Graf in the Porsche RS Spyder went at it hammer and tongs in the wet for pole.
When the exciting session – the rain would lighten, then fall harder, then stop, then start, goodness, the conditions were veeeery tricky -- came to its finish, Brabham edged Graf for pole position, putting in a :58.106 to Graf’s :58.746. The Lola Mazda of Guy Smith will start third, alongside the Lola Judd of Jonny Cocker.
Fastest in LMP Challenge (all prototypes are Oreca FLM09) was Christophe Bouchut (1:03.020), while the GT pole will be Patrick Long in his Porsche 911RSR (1:03.904). In GT Challenge (all cars Porsche 911 GT3 Cup), Jeroen Bleekemolen put up the best lap, a 1:08.129.
The very quick Formula Ford 2000 open-wheelers had two qualifiers – they have two races tomorrow – and the first session, for race one, saw Daniel Erickson nip Fabio Orsolon for pole in very slick conditions (1:08.211 to 1:08.828, respectively). In the second qualifier, Victor Carbone took pole over Orsolon. Local trackmaster Phil Lombardi, a Skip Barber instructor, will start seventh and fourth in the F2000 races.
Folks, the weather looks good for Saturday, so grab your cooler and lawn chairs and come on out tomorrow if you haven’t already purchased a ticket.
There will be photos from today on limerock.com and Facebook by 7:30 p.m. or so... There’s some really good stuff. "
Think Relatively Quickly – ok, Fast!
