This brings back some memories! I lived in Camarillo through HS (1970) and first two years at Ventura JC. I was in the Ventura County Timing Association that fought to get drag racing at the "Oxnard AFB". The Air Force Base had just been deactivated and we wanted to have some fun. Of course, there were some objections to a bunch of kids racing cars and having fun. Anyway, the Ventura County Timing Association finally got the OK for the races. The Camarillo airport has really turned into a great place for the community! Since I was helping run the races I didn't even get to run my old '66 Mustang Fastback!
