I had an red top Optima in my 289 for 8 years. It worked fine all that time, but no more than a month between starts. Most of time I was driving the car several times a week. Last month it just was dead. I don't know if my luck with Optima batteries is the norm or not, but a battery that lasted 8 years with continual use is pretty good.
