Poly tank issues: I have a plastic tank on my Hurricane and had continued sealing problems with the neoprene gaskets. Too tight, will squash the gasket out, especially with a slippery sealant.
Cure: Use a cork or thick paper gasket and a product called "Seal-All". The stuff is sold at most auto parts stores. It looks just like model airplane glue (clear) and works wonderful with gasolene and solvents.
I've used it for several small leaks were gasolene is involved.
