Update 10-15-10 a full 6 months after my first post. The m-6007-m5l (now called the m-6007-m50) showed up on "Horsepower-tv" this weekend with 2 guys from Ford Racing. ( turns out it was one guy from FR and one guy from dunne rite performance)
The funny part : the FR project manager guy had to call tech support to find out what RedLine was --on the engine-- WTH?
So as mentioned the new part number for the engine is m-6007-m50 they do have a top end cover kit ($140) , a alternator kit ($245) and a ford computer kit that has showed up and is available for the new 5.0' finally --it is listing out at 1700$.
So your propoosed budget is this ;
Motor 7k ( by the time you get it home /shop)
Computer 1500-1750
Alt 250
Covers 150
Fuel pumps / lines 500
Flywheel 400
Clutch 350
Starter 250
Oil filter remote 200
Cooling tubes 200
Mounts $x
Trans $x
The open questions for me are ;
1. Where is the Mechanical
oil pressure port (probably could get this feed from the
2. Water temperature port (for the smiths gauge)
3.
Oil temperature port ( probably can use the current SPF oil filter mount )
4. Does the computer have a fan relay activation lead ?
5. Is there a spare port for a fan switch in the cooling system ( kinda not needed if #4 works)
6. Since this required a return system for fuel - what other changes are made ?
In the HPTV episode it goes into the factory five 33 hot rod. The show it running with an alternator, a GM alternator (GRRRR) and very sloppy front end ducting.
I am dissapointed in how the FRPP launch of the 5.0 is being supported , I would hope they would have it in more places, have better info, an install guide online, something.
Bottom line ;Fragmented misleading commentary on the episode made me want to scream.
Anyone want to start a automotive TV program?
