I am the Scout Master for our local troop and my 2 boys, along with some other boys from the troop are going to rebuild a 302 motor that my engine builder donated. It is a salvage piece but it is reported to have been a running engine when it was surgically removed with a forklift!
Here's the "help" part. They could easily take it apart and put it back together with bearings and rings and sell it for a couple hundred bucks but if it had some cool parts on it, it might fetch a higher dollar from a donor. I could use anything from a chrome dipstick to a set of heads and intake! This is an approved charity, nonprofit deal so I could give you a good receipt for your records.
As many of you know, the Boy Scouts is an awesome organization. In our community this is really the only role model some of these boys have who come from less than ideal family situations. That part sucks but thats just how it is. One of the challenges is finding things to keep them interested that don't cost a lot of money. This project has been a real exciting thing for the boys so far. That's why I'm throwing it out to you guys. If you have stuff lying around, send me a note.
Thanks,
Dean
