Wayne, you're correct but your scheduling is a little off. Put on the Red RTV,let it "skin", about 10 to 15 minutes, bolt on your sidepipes, then let it set up overnight. Trim off the excess the next day. Personally, I like the Copper RTV.
Lou, we've always used the RTV because we haven't found any gaskets that didn't eventually blowout.
