About 250 miles after I bought my roadster replica from a forum member, the clutch cable failed....getting it towed home was easy, getting it fixed was not.
I found a part at a Freightliner semi-tractor parts department that would have been OK if it had been 15" longer....
Three trips to the part of Houston FURTHEREST from my home did not yield a cable that would work, or a shop that could make me one using my broken piece for a pattern.
Finally I found a place that would do what I needed and I had a custom cable made....and that still has "issues", like a sort of a "catch" as the clutch is released that makes it tricky to take off from a standing start. I can manage it, but don't trust my daughter with it yet.
I can't imagine any of us has not had some issue with these "race cars"....think about the type of reliability that was required from the originals, they were only expected to hold together through the race that day, then they might have been rebuilt for the next race. Our replicas are much more reliable, IMHO.....but, again, that depends on the quality of the build moreso than the quality of the components/kit, no?
Cheers from.......
