Here is a follow up on my shift handle adaptor project. There are more pics in my gallery but I will attempt to post the most critical ones here. I am a carpenter by trade, not a metal fabricator. So with my limited abilities I attempted to make this very simplistic and low budget. The results are perfect.
Instead of going to a welder I realized I had what would work laying around in a pile of left over construction hardware. It's a 1/4" thick bracket with a 90* bend. A very stout piece. Using a scroll saw with a metal cutting blade I was able to cut out the portion I needed and cleaned it up with a bench grinder. I used my drill press to drill the holes I needed, and tapped some threads in two of the holes to bolt my new shift handle to. Once I was happy with the fit I cleaned it up further with a disc sander and 150 grit paper then spray painted. Dang it looks good.
I made the offset 1 1/4" to better position my shifter on the trans tunnel and yes I had to enlarge the hole through the carpet a bit.
