I carry a tire patch kit, with the rubber plugs and glue, and I carry a small air compressor that I picked up from harbor freight. The air compressor uses a cigarette lighter plug, so I picked up a accessory plug that is wired to my battery in the trunk. Have yet to need it on my car, but have used the set up on my Mom's van, and it worked like a charm. Was able to air up the flat without having to remove the tire from the van. The compressor is not much bigger than an alarm clock, so it is a great space saver.
