It can also be done with a oxy-acetylene torch. The ring gear is heated up with the torch and then dropped onto the flywheel. A lot of the aluminum flywheels have tabs to lock the flywheel in place. The tabs will easily break off after you remove the old ring gear. Get a welding shop to weld them back on, after you put the new ring gear on the flywheel. Any welding or fabrication shop should easily be able to remove and replace the ring gear for you.
