I'll kick in my two cents. I've purchased parts from Summit for years, almost 25. In fact, when they had their engine shop, I bought a stroked Chevy small block (350 to 383) from them for my 1954 Studebaker. I had a lot of problems with that engine that never really got entirely resolved before I sold the car (yes, with full disclosure). That was in 1995 and they later closed their engine shop. Summit is a retailer, not a manufacturer. They contract with manufacturers to create their then Summit branded products like a lot of retailers in other sectors do. In this case apparently Holley. That doesn't necessarily make it any better or worse and we all know that Holley has had their own "manufacturing deviation" issues over the years. My personal opinion is that you can make almost any carb that is manufactured properly work (except Edelbrock on a light weight car like ours - yes, a cheap shot) through proper tuning. That said, I would stick with the original manufacturer where ever I could. That way you can go directly to the source if things go wrong. Like I said, my two cents.
