I did this research a while ago and yes the CR6ZZ Avons cost a mint but from what I've read, are about the best tyre if you want street legal high level grip. Clearly you are paying for that but evidently they don't disappear quite as fast as one would expect which is an unusual bonus.

Found a local supplier here in Melbourne, Stuckeys, and they have the sizes in stock, I went and looked at these tyres including 295/50/15 and 245/60/15's. At $625 and around $495 (they quoted on the 225/65's) respectively EACH!

Equivalent US prices were $444 and $377 each plus freight. Found I can sea freight all four tyres but two at a time to avoid GST for $300.

Have stopped looking for now as other projects have kept me away from the car again, but I want ( and by my driving history - need) grip and am prepared to pay for it when the time comes.

Was looing at the Y352 Yokis but the other benefit is that the Yokis are only H rated whereas the Avons are V rated.

If you happen to find other options please do post your discoveries.
