Michel,
I have a vinyl backwall on my car. It is a Hurricane kit and uses a fiberglass cockpit tub. I glued 1/16" thick vinyl shelf liner (Lowes) to the tub to provide a base and some amount of cushion, then glued my vinyl material on top of that.
I cut individual pieces of the underlayment so I could form square corners. That way when the vinyl went over it, I got as sharp a corner as possible.
The build has an exposed rollbar and the mounts for it presented a challenge. I cut and fit the vinyl then used contact cement and brushes to put down the vinyl, a little bit at a time. It will make you drink large amounts of adult beverages, but it can be done.
The pile carpet on the wheelwells and floor made for a sharp, clean edge with the vinyl
I've attached a photo of the wall, before the seats were installed.
