Yes, where you can see the cover with the 4 bolts is where i am going to move it to. That lines up perfectly with where i want it.

Its actually more simple than the older style box in that when you remove that cover there is a simple ball and socket joint. The shaft that runs from the shifter has a ball that points down at right angles. I need to have a play around but im pretty sure a straight shaft will do the same thing. I am thinking i will just cut the end off that is under the cover and weld it onto the gear stick. I then just need to make an alloy plate that will house the spherical bearing and it should work.

If i can get it to work i will post some pics to help others. It should be much simpler than how the old style is done.
