I used the same one as you and it works great. I know what you are saying but I found unless it was pointed at me I didn't see it. I traced around the base of my mirror onto a 1/2" piece of aluminium and made a 1/2" base for my dash mounted mirror to raise my mirror up a little. Then between the base I made and the bottom of the dash mount mirror I made a 1/8" thick X 1/2" wide X 4 1/2" long bracket from flat stock that I could mount my shift light. Via the bracket my shift light sits to the drivers side of my mirror and sits 1/2" above my dash. Then I ran the wire under through the top of my dash and wired it into my MSD Box. Works great and I didn't put any new holes in the top of my dash.

Good luck with what ever you do
