Get the pedal and the cable outlet lined up by whatever means is necessary. Continuing to drive it with such a flaw is neligent, next time you may not be so lucky, right?

One of the nicest cables available that is quite inexpensive is a clutch cable for a Honda Rotary lawnmower, (don't laugh!). The inner cable is Teflon coated, as is the inner surface of the outer cable. They have brass ends and with a little ingenuity can be made to work very well, and they are strong.
