Yes a sway bar contributes to the spring rate on the loaded corner. My guesstimate of 500lb was arrived at by figuring that with say a 100kg heavier engine you need to provide an extra 200lb of spring tension. I overlooked the fact that there is more than one spring absorbing the weight, but fortunately I'm a computer geek and not chassis engineer.

Those yellow springs do look beefier than normal though.
