Ok, should have done this in the first place. I used all Flaming River parts, including a 30" column. It has a Double D shaft. At the column one double 'D' 3/4" U-joint. Then a 10" straight 3/4" splined-both ends. shaft. (This was trimmed down to roughly 9-1/4"s). A 3/4" double splined U joint. Then another double splined 3/4" inch U joint. This shaft MUST be supported by a 3/4" Heim Joint. The Heim was fitted to an up-right bracket I fabricated- welded to the frame just in front of the #1 header tube. Last up is another double splined U joint to the steering wrack only one end is 1/2" inch (To the wrack) the other end is a standard 3/4" splined.
Doing it again from scratch? I'd drop the length of the column to a 26" length and change the first 3/4" shaft to 14"s long. Although I have the column securely mounted a little shorter would just make it a little neater and even have less of an opportunity to wobble.
