Disconnect the vacum line at the carb and plug it(vacum line), set your timing at 34 degrees at 3000 rpms. lock the distributor down and re-connect the vacum line and see how it idles/runs...............adjust 2 degrees +/- from there.....don't worry about the intial timing, let it fall where it may......

Also, make sure the engine is fully warmed up before doing this, take it for a short drive, that way everything is fully up to operating temps......

After setting your timing you will most likely have to adjust your idle rpms to your desired rpm, that is normal........
