with the configuration of airflow/low pressure areas in the cobra drivers area---any exhaust leaks at the headers area/ side pipe connection will seep thru openings aronnd the pedals, throttle linkage, etc and travel up the legs/torso on the way out of the car.

One car that I fixed the header/collector area was so bad that the interior of the car was carbon covered----
