Default The Cobra Story, when ws 1st edition

I recollect getting handed a hardbound book by Carroll Shelby and John Bentley with a white
cover with a penand ink sketch of a cowpoke and a Cobra.
I thought this was the 1965 or '66 edition, published maybe by ARCO
with Lyle Kenyon Engel (or Engle?) involved. He put his name on hundreds of books as editor or collaborator. Anyhow I was looking it up on Amazon.com to see when the first edition hit the press
and they only mention a 1974 version with MBI as publisher. I am sure the first edition was published when Cobras were still being made and before Ford had won at LeMans. Am I right (or just suffering from fuzzy memory after almost half a century)...?

PS I paid $50 for an old copy but it's not the white cover one, has a color picture on the front of a blue Cobra racing
