Stay in Carmel. There are lots of nice places and all close to shops and eats. You need to rent a car, but if you party in Carmel, you can walk everywhere. Most want a three day stay at that time of year. I just got back, you need to to to Spanish Bay and have drinks before sunset and hear the bagpipper come up from the coast while sitting around the fire. Fishwife is just outside the gate with great food cheap. Cheif Roys Ahi Tuna at Spanish Bay is awesome. To avoid the charge to drive on 17 mile drive, make a reservation at Pebble Beach or Spanish Bay then you go thru the gate for free. Anton & Michell is a great French Resturant if want a NICE dinner in Carmel. The Forge in Carmel has great food very resonable, also in Carmel. Go, don't miss it!
