Self tuning is really good these days. The ECU and associated software can self tune to the specs you provide. If you think it's a little lean or rich in one spot, you tell the computer to tune to a differant AFR

Over the years I have discovered the proper synch is critical. If it's not spot on, no amount of tuning will make it run well. The balance has to be dang near perfect. I spent a lot of time getting mine set up correctly. I eneded up making some new linkage parts to get it exactly right.
Once you have the balance right, the tuning will be much easier, and the car will be a real joy to drive.
